About the work

Deck Builders Nashville Trusted Company.

From inside it looks fine. Then you walk out and feel the deck give a little right where it meets the stairs. Could be a footing that never went deep enough. Could be a ledger that's been wicking water behind the siding. Could be a porch somebody slapped together years back that nobody's checked since.

Nashville summers run long, hot, and humid, and that humidity is what quietly wears wood down — rot, soft spots, fasteners giving out before the boards do. Winters stay mild most years, but enough freeze-thaw rolls through to move whatever wasn't set deep and set right.

We build custom decks, tear out and replace the ones past saving, repair the sections that can still be saved, set railings, run composite or wood, screened-in porches, pergolas, staining and sealing, and commercial deck work.

What you can expect

You don't see the parts that decide if a deck still feels solid years from now.

What you notice is the surface — the boards, the railing, the stairs you climb. What you don't notice is everything holding it up: footings, joist hangers, ledger bolts, flashing, beam connections, the small calls that decide whether it still feels solid a decade out.

So we'd rather get specific before a single board gets ordered. Walk the yard. Look at how the house sits. Poke at the old porch if there's one still standing. Ask how you actually want to use the space. Then you get a real scope instead of a round number with half the details left out.

Yard slopes off toward the back? We'll bring it up. Old frame turns out worse once we're into it? You'll hear about it, not after the invoice lands. And if a repair gets you there without a full rebuild, we'll say so.

No interest in making it complicated. We're here to build it right and move on.

Our Services

Everything from one board to the whole structure.

Start a project

Custom Deck Building

Somewhere to sit, grill, and step straight out the back without a second thought. Built to your yard and your house and the way you actually use the space — stairs where they make sense, shade for the August heat, a little privacy from the neighbors, water draining away from the foundation instead of toward it.

Deck Repair

We look before we patch anything. Joists, posts, the ledger, the hardware, where water's been sitting, any movement underfoot. A small fix does the job, good. If it won't, we'll show you why instead of laying new boards over an old problem.

Deck Replacement

Soft boards, worn stairs, rot working into the frame — at some point chasing it costs more than starting fresh. We pull the old one, haul it off, and rebuild, which is the moment to fix a layout that never quite worked.

Composite Decking

Trex, TimberTech, Fiberon. We'll walk you through texture, color, how hot a board gets in full Tennessee sun, and where each one lands on price — so you're not deciding off a two-inch sample under store lighting.

Wood Decking

Pressure-treated pine, cedar, and the trade-offs with each. Looks like wood because it is, runs cheaper than most composite, and holds up for years when it's built right and you stay ahead of the humidity.

Screened-In Porches

Around here a screened porch earns its keep most of the year. Shade and a breeze without the mosquitoes taking over dinner. Framing, screen, doors, trim, the roofline — built to look like part of the house instead of bolted on over a weekend.

Pergolas & Gazebos

For when a deck or patio sits too open to enjoy in the afternoon heat. Attached or freestanding, cedar or treated lumber, sized to throw shade without swallowing the yard.

Staining & Sealing

Clean it, prep it, then finish it. The prep is the part people skip — and in this climate, if the surface isn't ready, the stain won't hold and you'll be looking at it again before long.

Railing Installation

A railing should feel locked in, not “should be fine.” Wood, composite, aluminum, cable, glass. The look matters; what it's bolted to matters more.

Commercial Deck Construction

Restaurants, bars, offices, apartment buildings, event spaces. Built for crowds, inspections, code, and timelines that can't keep slipping.

Restaurant & Bar Patios

Chairs dragged a hundred times a night, people leaning back on two legs, spills, sun, rain off the awning. We build patios for that — not for one clean photo on opening day.

Multi-Family Decking

Tenants don't baby a deck the way an owner would. Heavier framing, materials that take a beating, railings that stay put, and a schedule that doesn't tie up the property longer than it has to.

Commercial Deck Repair

A loose railing or cracked board at a business isn't just an eyesore — it's liability. We handle worn decking, weak stairs, bad railing, and rot before someone has to rope the area off.

Why people hire us

We're not the cheapest crew in town — and we don't try to sell ourselves that way.

Cheap deck work tends to show its age fast, even when it looks sharp the day the crew clears out. What we'd rather be known for: showing up, building it solid, keeping the job moving, and not leaving you with a mess or a stack of half-answers.

  • 01Say we'll be there Tuesday, we're there Tuesday.
  • 02Something changes on the job, you hear it from us first.
  • 03A bad board doesn't get framed in and forgotten.
  • 04If the old structure isn't safe, we'll say it plainly.
  • 05If a smaller repair gets you there, we'll point you to it.

How we build decks

The visible part gets the attention. The hidden part does the work.

Footings have to be set right, below the frost line, on ground that doesn't always cooperate. Posts set and supported. Beams sized to carry the load. Joists spaced correctly. Hangers, fasteners, blocking, flashing, ledger attachment — all of it has to make sense together and pass inspection. And in a historic overlay like East Nashville or Edgefield, the design has to clear Metro review before the first board goes down, which we plan around from the start.

This is where the bad work hides. A deck can wear a beautiful top board and still be wrong underneath where nobody's looking.

Full-Service Deck Builders

New builds, repairs, replacements, railings, pergolas, porches, and commercial work — under one roof.

01

One company, whole deck

No lining up one guy for the frame, another for the railing, and a third for the stain. Same outfit, start to finish.

02

Clear pricing up front

The quote spells out the work, the materials, and the scope. Want to change something mid-job? We price it before we touch it.

03

Repairs done as builders

When we repair a deck, we read it like the people who'd have built it — not just whoever's handy with a screw gun.

Picky about materials

Lumber is not all the same, even from the same yard.

Some boards come off the stack straight and clean. Some are bowed like a fishing rod, some split, some twisted, some carrying a fat knot right where you don't want one. We sort what actually goes on the deck.

We choose boards carefully

Twists, cracks, wrong crown, splits, soft spots, the obvious junk — it gets pulled before it ever ends up in the build.

If something's off, we handle it

A real problem turns up after we're done? We come back and take care of it. Nobody's dodging your calls.

Same crew, cleaner job

The same crew start to finish makes a difference. They already know the plan, so the work just runs smoother.

From a basic idea to a finished deck

You don't need to know every deck term before calling.

  1. 01

    Tell us the basics

“We want somewhere to grill out back.” “The old porch feels off.” That's plenty to get started.

  2. 02

We come look at the space

We measure what needs measuring, walk through materials and layout with you, and lay out a few options.

  3. 03

    Clear scope, then schedule

Real numbers, real materials, a timeline you can hold us to. Plan's locked, we get you on the schedule.

  4. 04

    Build it right, clean up

We handle the materials, the tear-out, the posts, the permits and inspections, the debris, and working around whatever the weather throws at us.

Commercial Deck Solutions

Restaurants, bars, apartments, offices — built for heavier use.

We take on new commercial builds, patio platforms, repairs, railing work, multi-family decking, and tired outdoor structures that need to be made safe again or torn out.

Proposals stay clear and timelines stay honest. A business doesn't need vague promises — it needs the job planned right and finished without turning into a circus on the property.

  • Restaurant & Bar Patios

    Servers, scraping chairs, leaning customers.

  • Multi-Family Decking

Stronger framing, durable materials, secure railings.

  • Office & Event Spaces

Heavier use, code requirements, real timelines.

  • Commercial Repair

Worn boards, weak stairs, damaged railing.
